03/09/16-Why The Jewish Camp of the Arts? (continued...)
There are so many camps to choose from! Why should I send my child to your camp? Over the next few weeks we will be exploring this question and giving you all the answers you need.

6. SAFETY.
At The Jewish Camp of the Arts, your child's safety is our #1 priority. As a result we have set up procedures and safety precautions to keep your child safe and healthy so we can enjoy a great time together. Below is a list of some of our safety precautions.
1. All JCA staff meet specified requirements to work with children and to work in summer camp. Counselors and junior counselors are required to attend staff training days before camp starts.
2. We do not allow any outside food or drinks into camp (only two bottles of water each day). We have children that are allergic to certain foods. Children will receive all snacks and lunches at camp. We do have a canteen where the children can purchase some goodies such as, nondairy ice cream, granola bars etc.
3. We require campers to bring in two water bottles a day to stay hydrated in the Florida sun
4. Campers must wear a Jewish Camp of the Arts t-shirt every day of camp
5. No camper, regardless of circumstances, will be allowed to leave camp with an unauthorized adult or without proper photo identification.

5. Building Self-Esteem through Learning a Life Skill-ELECTIVES

Camp is a place for kids to try new things and discover individual achievement. There are moments of personal success every day as well as an incredible community spirit. During electives children are reminded that they can do it. Each elective is a group of kids working together to solve problems and collaborating on creative projects regardless of their age or ability, their experience or talent. Everyone’s in it together at camp, and while we each may not hit the target with every arrow we shoot, there’s laughter and joy among friends no matter what. It’s through Electives and building this kind of community that the kids at camp strengthen their self-esteem.

Each week campers select two activities from a wide variety of athletic, adventure-oriented, performing or creative arts Electives. Combined with our scheduled sports and other activities, the Elective periods allow campers to customize their summer experience and walk away at the end of the summer with a lifelong skill. With more than ten activities from which to choose, our extensive Electives features experienced teachers and coaches to ensure that campers get the highest quality instruction in the areas of their greatest interest.
Some examples are: Wood Working, Junior Chefs, Scrapbooking, Movie Making, Mosaics, Drama Club, Sports league, Candle Making and many more.

Campers can also choose from a variety of private lessons such as piano and guitar, to add on during regular camp schedule.

4. Sports:
We are passionate about using sports as a teaching tool. Sports creates the opportunity for children to learn life lessons while having fantastic fun.
Through our sports program children learn:
• Sportsmanship
• To win with humility
• To lose with pride in their efforts
• To be good teammates
• To respect their opponents
• To value consistent sustained effort

Our three Goals:
• Play sports to have FUN.
• Always try your BEST.
• Always be a good SPORT.

Whether in Hockey, Dodge Ball Volleyball, Basketball or Baseball, our #1 rule is: Don’t be afraid to make a mistake.
We believe children learn best in an environment where they are encouraged to try new things and improve their abilities without fear of criticism.

3. Staff- The real secret to our success lies in our outstanding staff. Our counselors are known for their personal warmth and their ability to care for each child as an individual. Our staff are hand picked, come with prior camp experience and undergo a specialized staff training. Many staff members return year after year, lending experience and continuity to all programs. Each counselor is a role model for our children, promising them friendship which will last forever. Their love for the children is perhaps surpassed only by the children's love for them.

2. Jewish Identity and Values- The Jewish Camp of the Arts is dedicated to enriching the lives of children from diverse Jewish backgrounds and affiliations through providing a stimulating and joyful camping experience. Our weekly Jewish themes include Jewish Identity, Israel, Jewish Holidays, Jewish Life Cycle Events, Mitzvot, Shabbat and more. Our program is designed to reach out to any and every Jewish family with the unique warmth and excitement that our heritage offers. The foundation of JCA is a tangible sense of ‘Ahavat Yisrael’ -- love of a fellow Jew, regardless of background, affiliation, or level of Jewish knowledge. JCA is a positive, nonjudgmental, no-pressure environment where every person is valued as an individual with their unique contribution to the camp family. Every year, children from the entire spectrum of the Jewish Community attend our camp and walk away at the end of the summer with a feeling of growth in Jewish Pride and Identity.

1. Fun- The Jewish Camp of the Arts was established 30 years ago on the basis of Fun. When we say fun we mean F-U-N. One of the camper favorites is "Messtival" - Foam pit, Paint fight, messy musical chairs, cake a face and a goo pit. Then there's the JCA's got talent where the children show off their talents on stage with disco lights and rocking music. Simpsons doughnut challenge - Make homemade doughnuts, cream them and eat them off a rope all to the sound of your teammates cheering you on. Color war, think tug-o-war, dodge ball and silly skits - two teams assigned a color competing with each other to win the grand prize- bragging rights for the rest of the season. Besides for the theme days JCA is known for its rocking field trips , Wow factory, bowling, roller skating and swimming to name a few. To sum it up, whether you are 1 or 100 you are sure to have a ton of fun at JCA this summer
